    Hi,

Somehow I managed to destroy part of my SQL database.
I’m trying to recover it through the hosting service but i’m not sure they will be able (no comments, please).
So I need to know if I can recover it from the backup made by udraft plus.

If so, any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Horace

    Hi Horace,

    Sorry to hear that!

Yes, your database is in the file ending in “db.gz” (or “db.gz.crypt” if you turned on database encryption).

Instructions on restoration are here: http://updraftplus.com/support/frequently-asked-questions/

Alternatively, we sell hands-on do-it-for-you restoration support in the shop: http://updraftplus.com/shop/

Thanks very much for your ultra fast response, David.

I’ve read through the post and everything is clear.

My only problem is my DB is gone (almost) and hence I can’t access the site.

I could if I was able to grant admin acces to a newly created user. I’ll search the forums for procedures on doing this.

In the meantime any additional help will be appreciated.

    Hi Horace,

With the database file, you can replace the database entirely (and thus restore to a working state) via your web hosting company’s control panel (look for phpMyAdmin) – or you can install phpMyAdmin yourself.

    Hi,

I’ve made good advance. Using the standard procedure described, I encounter this message at one point:

“Databases cannot yet be restored from here – you must download the database file and take it to your web hosting company’s control panel.”

But no other description on prodedure is stated.

    Heellllppppp!!!

    Thx David.

The question is how do I extract the .sql databes from the backup in my dropbox. ¿?

    Hi Horace,

Instructions for manual restoration via phpMyAdmin are in the link given above: http://updraftplus.com/support/frequently-asked-questions/.

The next release of UpdraftPlus will also allow it to be done via the settings page – we haven’t done all the testing we’d like yet, but if you’re willing to give it a go (and shoulder the risks therefore – it works for me): http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/updraftplus.1.5.16.zip

Or we can do it for you, via a package from: http://updraftplus.com/shop/ – which (of course!!) I recommend if you’re not experienced in manipulating SQL databases.

Ive donwloaded and “installed” the beta version.

Since the original udraftplus folder was there, Wp did not let me use the std procedure to install a plugin. I did not want to uninstall the previous 1.5.5 version so I manually uncompressed the zip file and copied the content to a new “udraftplus BETA” folder.

Everything ok untill the activation moment. When I try to activate I get the following error: “Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class UpdraftPlus in /var/www/vhost/tradingconsistemas.com/home/html/wp-content/plugins/udraftplus BETA/updraftplus.php on line 113”

I do have the encryption key, but I can’t decrypt because I do not have access to V1.5.10 which I see is necessary.

    Heeeelpppp!

    Hi Horacio,

Yes, you can’t install two versions of the same plugin at once – won’t work.

    Hi David,

    Sorry for this pal…

I executed example-decrypt but nothing happened (or at least I don’t know where the file is).

It returns PAge not found after 5 secs or so.

I uploaded the .crypt file to the same folder where I have the example-decypt.php file. I modified the .php file as follows:

    “rijndael_decrypt_file( ‘/html/wp-content/plugins/udraftplus/copiaBD.crypt’ , ‘hl90634’ );”

    Any help appreciated. 🙂

Looks like you had a typo there. udraft <->updraft

    🙂 Thx I feel somewhat stupid. 🙂

Now the process has finished (I think). The chrome screen is full of strange symbols. I can guess the output is the chrome screen so I must have made some other error. Correct?

Great – glad to hear it all worked out.

If you find UpdraftPlus useful, then please consider a donation – http://david.dw-perspective.org.uk/donate – or review it in the WordPress plugin directory (http://wordpress.org/support/view/plugin-reviews/updraftplus), and recommend it to your friends!

    Best wishes,
