you cant. have a backup of your database? if not — thats life.
If you don’t have a database backup, and you set up WordPress to email you each time a comment is posted, you can manually post them again by using that info (logged out as admin). This will not keep the original time stamp and will appear as a new comment…

I have several plugins, hopefully they got backed up. The comments were from 3 different people from (google – I think) and they left links back to google. The comments didn’t sound good to me at the time because they told me I needed to write more often but I started thinking that the links back to google from my comments may do some good for my search results. I just don’t understand why the email links they left were just a bunch of numbers or letters or whatever, I don’t remember, but I didn’t recognize them as regular email links. I just deleted them.
If you don’t keep backups, deleted is deleted, as in gone…
If you’re unsure about a comment, mark it as spam (rather then delete), that way you can decide later what to do with it…
tonyl – the comments you describe sound like total spam to me. In the future, do what t31os_ suggests.
Hey all,
I’ve been a real noob and managed to delete my comments database after following these instructions: http://www.princeblog.net/index.php/troubleshoot/wordpress-blank-page-after-posting-a-comment-wp-comment-post-php.
I did follow the instruction to back up the database though. Only now I’m not sure how to restore the comments database.
I asked for help in the comments to the instructions, but the comments never appeared.
Can anyone please help me with this?
Ryan
