Recommendations for Subscription Options

    I am in the process of setting up a WooCommerce store for a subscription product but I’m struggling to get all the options that I would ideally like to have. Can anyone please make any recommendations?

    My store has 3 products – two simple products and one variable product.
    I want to give the option to choose subscription frequency – to have a product delivered each month, every 2nd month, or every 3rd month. Plus the option to instead just make a one-off purchase.

    I also want to give the option to pre-pay for 3, 6 or 12 shipments. If it is not possible to do it by number of shipments then 3, 6, or 12 calendar months instead. When the pre-paid period is finished, then another pre-paid payment would be automatically debited for the same period-length as the previous, rather than changing to the typical billing cycle (e.g. monthly).

    Finally, I would like to give the option to make a pre-payment as a gift subscription, whereby, if selected, the subscription will not renew.
    I had previously been using Shopify and these were basic subscription options available. However, for WooCommerce I can’t find such a solution.

    At present, I have WooCommerce Subscriptions installed and I have the All Products for WooCommerce Subscriptions plugin installed to provide the subscription frequency and one-off purchase options.

    I then installed the FlyCart Prepaid/Upfront Payments plugin but have hit a problem. The All Products for WooCommerce Subscriptions plugin uses Simple Products and Variable Products, and creates a new tab on the Product Data section for ‘Subscriptions’ , rather than using Simple Subscriptions and Variable Subscriptions, which is what the FlyCart Prepaid plugin requires to be used. Therefore I can’t use the FlyCart plugin along with the All Products plugin.

    I had also been recommended a solution using the AutomateWoo plugin but from my research it seems I would have the same problem as with the FlyCart plugin.

    I really don’t know what else to try now. Can anyone help at all please?

    Hi @mallo82,

    I understand you’re looking for an option to decouple subscription delivery schedule (every 1, 2, 3, etc months) from the billing schedule (pay for 1, 3, 6 deliveries at once). That’s a tricky case, as different billing & delivery schedules aren’t an option in WooCommerce Subscriptions yet, and we’re not aware of any prepayment plugins that would be compatible with it.

    I can see this was already suggested on the Ideas Board for Subscriptions, so can you please add your votes and comments here?

    We’d like to see how many people would be interested in this.

    As a workaround, you may consider using sign-up fee as a substitute for pre-payment. This isn’t perfect as the customer would need to login on the site each time manually, but would at least let you decouple billing from shipping schedule. Here is an article that explains how this works:
