REALLY lazy gallery wanted

As a WordPress newbie, I wonder if anyone can help. I’m looking for a “REALLY lazy gallery” plugin that will allow creation of image galleries containing all images in a folder. I’ve seen a few mentioned that seem to do exactly what I don’t want, and what I want may violate the WP ideal (I’m not interested in titles, comments or feedback on the individual images).

I have already implemented this on various websites as ASP code – define the image folder, look for a “thumbs” folder within the images folder, read all the filenames of the thumbnails (same as the main image files), and display these in a gallery (table) with links (lightbox) to the full size images.

Images are (of course) uploaded via FTP, thumbnails pre-created on the pc – really the low-tech old-style website approach. I may see if I can write one if necessary (a whole new level of hurt!) but I thought I’d ask to avoid re-inventing the wheel.
