Real time updates

I’m looking to create a password protected areas with access to Word and Excel docs using WP File Manager (or pro version if necessary). What I can’t see is if files will be locked to other users if someone already has the file open and/or is editing it.

Has anyone used it in this way? Or can you advise on another plugin (free preferably!) that has this functionality?
