• Hi,
For months I have been reading about 1.3 and how it is progressing, and have been reading in these forums about people who have successfully installed and have been running 1.3.
I have a new project and would like to take advantage of the new features in 1.3, such as improved templating, and the pages function.
I know now is the time for everyone to jump in and say “dont use alpha” and even “dont use beta’s!”, but the site will not be launched for some time. There is a lot of old content that needs to be slowly entered, so I am guessing that going from 1.3 alpha >> 1.3 final will be easier than 1.2 >> 1.3. I am planning on keeping things pretty vanilla and unmodified until the final release. As long as the data will be ok, I dont see much of a problem.
Is this a crazy idea? Can I easily go from 1.3a >> 1.3 when it is officially released?
I am running 1.3a with no problems locally, and things are looking good. I just cant wait for a final release.
    Thanks
    CJ

  • You sound like you can handle any issues that might come up. Make sure you do a MySQL backup first (always a good idea), and good luck!

But they could be releasing it today.
Just another case where it would be good to know if “it’ll be ready when it’s ready” means a few weeks or a couple of months.
