I want to set a static front page but the options in the drop down menu are Select or About, which don’t give me the post I want.

How do I select a post to make the static front page?

Is going to Admin/settings/readings and change it to static page not helping?

Try WP-Sticky plugin

That’s exactly what I’ve been trying.
I think it’s maybe just version 2.9.2 that doesn’t offer an option to specify the post I want to use
