I don t want full width for posts on first page, only first paragraphs and then a ”read more” button. How can I change it?

When writing a post you have the option of putting in a ‘more’ tag so that the post is only visible on the main page until that point.

When writing a post this is in the tool bar to the left of the spellcheck icon.

i want to have 3 or 4 featured posts in a single row below the slider. could you please help me?
