How the read more works varies by theme. What theme are you using? Where did you get it?

I’m using the “sight” theme. I used it when I was on wordpress.com and when I moved to wp org I uploaded the template to my new website
my site is doshasoul.com
Actually it says “…” which is an ellipsis.
That is currently how your theme is designed when a page is using get_excerpt.
There is this on Customizing the Read More.
Also, “Sight” is not a theme listed here and the one at WordPress.com is by these folks (I will assume that is where you got it, although you may have gotten the theme from WordPresss.com and use on a .org site, but either way it’s not a theme listed here, so not supported here).
Since this theme can be downloaded from wordpress.com, it may be supported by the .com folks. I’ve tagged this topic for their attention.
