I just installed lightenmag and I would like a summary shown of posts on the home page and to read the whole post when they click read more/
Thanks You Mike

I am looking for a function like this as well. The main page just gets too darn long. We need to be able to summarise the article on the main page, and if the visitors want to read the whole thing the visitor will click through to the actual article page.
2nd call, anyone know how to accomplish this? I have been unable to find it in the settings and have not yet seen a plugin that will do this either.
Yes, I just found this article which describes a manual way to set it up so that summarising occurs automagically. It also links to this help page to help you customise what you want.
The link you supplied is good as well. Thank you.
While looking into this, discovered that there is a more tag button on the toolbar of the post editing page. I just did not realise what the more toolbar button image actually was.
With this toolbar button, you can break the post at a place that you want it to break. It also adds a “Read more »” link for you.
Perfect!
Yep – that’s the one I mean
Hello Cubecolour,
Please have patience with me very new to the WP thing but I guess it’s a way to get great looking sites. If you could explain your comment that would be great. I know some programs you get off the net will let you use it for free but they will insert ads/spam for you to look at. When you finally buy the software then the ads/spam are no longer there.
Is this what your talking about?
Thanks Mike
Thanks Much !!
Mehtuus, I know we can look at things over and over and still don’t what they mean.
Thanks again,
Mike
Hey Mehtuus,
Just tried it and it didn’t work.
I typed in a line and inserted the more link and wrote text after it and it all showed up on the post
Thanks Mike
False alarm I think I got it.
Thank you all for all of your help
Mike

No, not really.
There are free well built themes available from the theme directory on WordPress.org http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/ all have been checked and there are strict rules about what the theme author can and cannot do.Also there are commercial GPL themes available from trustworthy theme vendors listed here on WordPress.org http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/commercial/
Themes downloaded from other sites are a bit of an unknown quantity as anyone can offer a theme with spammy links or even deliberate security holes. Read this: http://www.themelab.com/2009/12/08/stop-downloading-wordpress-themes-from-shady-sites/
The theme you mentioned adds in advertising links. This would not be allowed on a theme in the WordPress.org theme directory, and I consider that a shady practice.
Also the theme is licensed under a license which is not compatible with WordPress licensing which themes *should* inherit, but that’s a totally different conversation.
Cubecolour, Thanks for the informatiom, I will look into it. This next question I think is unilateral with any them. When looking at lightenmag, just underthe logo there are categories “HOME” “APPLE” etc. How do I get rid of the “HOME” link. I believe those are categories but I think that is redundant to have categories and pages named the same.
Thanks in Advance
Mike
