• I’d like to try using Alex King’s redirect template “mt-wp-redirect-301.php” but I’m a little unclear on the instructions.
Step 1 says, “Choose one of the two files as your individual post template.”
Okay, so I assume we are talking about the MT “Individual Entry Archive.” Correct?
Does that mean I just replace the contents of the MT Individual Entry Archive template with the contents of “mt-wp-redirect-301.php”? If not, what specifically do I do with the php file?

Well, it isn’t working the way I would have wanted, but it is working.
I never could get the entry-to-entry redirect part to work. Just a bit too technical and above my head I guess. But I was able to jerry-rig the redirect so that it redirected all of my MT entries to my new blog site (but not to the same entries there). And I also used a variant of the same redirect html to replace the content of my old MT Main Index file, so when people go to the old main URL they are redirected to the new site. So, I guess that means I’m covered – if they input an old entry-specific URL they are redirected to the new site, and if they input the old site URL in general they are redirected to the new site.
I’m afraid this is the best I can do and I will have to hope the search engines update accordingly. I will also stop in at Google and update my blog URL there manually, and do the same at a few other web indexes I’ve manually registered with.
So that does it for MT. Wasn’t a bitter parting, just time to move on to a better fit for me.
