The settings page for Video Thumbnails has a “Mass Actions” tab which will let you clear all video thumbnails (I’d recommend doing this first to make sure no custom fields were left behind) and there’s also a tool to scan past posts. This is all available in the free version, but the pro version does give some extra options to speed up the process.

thank you for your immediate reply. what do you mean by “make sure no custom fields were left behind” i already cleared all video thumbnails and just finished “Scan All Posts” but no success on the thumbnails.

    Thanks!

Video thumbnail information is saved in a custom field with each post, so if you delete the images without clearing the custom fields (the “Clear Video Thumbnails” does both) it will think a post still has a video thumbnail. Did scanning all posts find existing images?

Another thing to check (in case you lost your settings) is that you have a custom field entered in the settings if you are saving your videos in a separate box from the regular post content in the editor.

    kinda loss… LOL
this are the things that i have done.

    1. already cleared the video thumbnails.
    2. scan past post
    3. i already deleted the plugin and reinstall it again but no success

When you scanned past posts, it should say something like “Found 0 new thumbnails and 6 existing thumbnails”, did it say found 0 existing?

When you deactivate the plugin it erases its settings, so there’s a chance you former developer had entered something into the “Custom Field” section of the settings page. If when you create a post you are entering your video’s embed code or URL anywhere other than the normal post content area (this is what the editor looks like) you’ll need to enter the name of that custom field in the settings. If you are using another video plugin or a theme designed for videos, it’s common for there to be a separate box (like this) on the edit screen just for videos.

If this is the case, to find the name of the custom field open up the post editor, click the “Screen Options” tab in the top right, then check “Custom Fields”. You should now see a “Custom Fields” section (looks like this) in the editor with a list of custom field names and values. The name of the field with your embed code is the name you’ll enter in the settings.

If this isn’t the case, try using the tests in the debugging tab of the settings page.

i finally fixed it. it seems your new version is having a problem with Automatic Youtube Video Posts. i downloaded 2.4 version of your problem and everything works great.

Aha! I know what’s going on now. The latest version (2.5.2) included a fix for AYVP, but I didn’t realize it would cause a problem creating thumbnails after the video was already imported. Do you have “Automatically publish posts” set to “no” in the AYVP settings? I just have to reinsert the new code alongside the older code and it will hopefully fix the issue.

Ive got mine set to yes for automatically publishing posts. However I am also using another plugin “Auto-Schedule Posts” to randomly publish posts.
