Ratings Hack
I’ve seen some noise on the bb for a ratings script and even downloaded the other ones, which didn’t work at all with my version. So I decided to hack my way into one.
This isn’t a plugiwn, but it is a hack of another script by HScripts to work for WordPress. I intend to make it nicer before release, but I thought some of you would like to try it out and give some suggestions. The script makes a call to an external PHP script, which resides in another directory underneath the WordPress directory. It does work for me, if not a little clunky at the moment. Over the next few weeks, I intend to do the following fixes:
(1) Code up some javascript to open the “Thanks for Voting” page in the little window, which, when closed, will update the other page automatically. Or the page updates when you’ve voted. Or it just calls the same index.php page, with the words “Thanks for Voting” on the top.
(2) I’m having a difficult time getting the “Rate This” bar at the bottom disappear if a person has already voted, but I’m very tired and this is just a quick fix at the moment. 🙂 But I would like to changed that too.
(3) Make it so it calls CSS from the style.css page, not hard coded into the index.php page.
Is this even something that I should be bothering with? Would anyone else even like to see coding for a rating? (By rating, I mean, visitors to your site can give a number from 1 to 5 as to how much they like the article). Is there something else out there that is way better than my simplistic hack?

Thanks all! This is my first post. I love WordPress by the way.
