    Hi mtporter,

The multiple-category/payment problem is a tricky one. Here’s what BD does with it today:
    – When you pick a category, if the category has a fee plan associated with it, you get charged for that amount
    – If you pick multiple categories, the plugin charges for each one separately

We understand this isn’t what everyone wants, so we’re working on enhancements to change it.

Here’s what we plan to offer in the future:
    – The ability to select a fee plan that offers you the ability to select X categories (and no more) for a single fee
    – The ability to select any number of categories for a single fee
    – The current behavior of each category gets charged when selected

This is something we’re working on for our next major release (after the one about to go out).

    Hello,
may you describe in details such case: what will be when user had payed for selected categories for 30 days of activity of the listing, but then after 1-2 days decided to change categories instead of already selected?
    Is it possible at all?

This is also part of the multiple category issue. Editing a listing after choosing (and possibly paying) for category-specific listings now becomes something we have to restrict as well.

Right now, there are no restrictions–so they can edit and place a listing in however many categories they want.

For the moment I have it so only 1 category can be selected. After it is published, if I go in and edit and leave the same category, it goes to pending status. But if I change to a different category, the payment screen (paypal) displays…

Can you walk me through the exact set of steps you went through to create that behavior, mtporter?

Sounds like some behavior that isn’t quite right or complete here and I’d like to address it.

As much detail as you can provide, screenshots would help. Please include whether you are logged in as admin or a regular user.

I’ve been away and haven’t been able to test out. Any word on the new release?

    Hi mtporter,

The release is about to go out this week. I wanted to get File Uploads/Attachments finished before releasing, since that’s late.

However, we’ve not made any progress on this thread because my last question was left unanswered. If you’re still having this issue, I need the information above to continue.

Not having issues any longer, I realize now that changing categories is adding ON to the directory…

If and when the update comes out, hopes that it will include some of the things you mentioned it will have in another post.

If indeed it does, those that use Joomla and use SOBI2 would be happy to switch over and use the BDP.

BTW, when will update go into effect?

The release will be any day now, pending final testing of Attachments which has some minor UI issues at the moment.

Still sitting on edge of seat waiting for new release =)

Here’s what we plan to offer in the future:
    – The ability to select a fee plan that offers you the ability to select X categories (and no more) for a single fee

Is the above implemented in the new release? If so how to configure?

‘Out of the box’ I think the SOBI2 extension for Joomla has up to 5 categories that can be selected with the first 3 being free for a set price then the other 2 categories if click are just a little more on top of the fee for the first 3 that are already selected. The SOBI2 extension I have was modified to have first 3 free for a set price then categories 4-9, (4 more than the installed 5) were set for $2.50 each.

Was hoping 3.2 had this feature…

    Hi mtporter,

You can configure fee plans to associate to a particular category, or set of categories under Directory Admin->Manage Fees, “Apply to category (required)”

The category selection doesn’t have a number that can be free and then you pay X for the rest. That wasn’t something we were working on. The category payment system is something we have long term plans for upgrading to add more sophisticated behavior, but we need to handle recurring payments and the pending Google Wallet/Checkout expiration first.

The 3 categories selected in photo, instead of being listed separately, was looking to have it so that 3 categories could be selected for a total of $20 vice $60.

Currently, the prices for the organization are $20 for 1 year, and $35 for 2 years for a total of 3 categories. If they chose 1 year and 4 total categories, then it is $22.50 and if they do the max of 9 total of $35 for 1 year ($20 + 6 categories ($2.50) = $35)

I have tried to get the organization to rethink and go with a $5 for each category… which if more than 1 is selected, a year later the listing owner would get more than 1 expiration notice.
