I am really sorry teakline but I’m only going to help Alani, the person who created this thread.

Oh, how cool!
@import url(“../decode/style.css”);
Ok, I’ve pasted that info and uploaded it again.
Okay so your basic Child Theme should be set up now, ready to be activated in the dashboard. In the dashboard under Appearance > Themes can you activate your Child Theme there?
Would it read Child-theme?
Under appearance>themes… there is nothing new.
Let me try to logout and login again
Nope, I don’t see it anywhere in my WordPress themes.
I just noticed this at the bottom of the themes page:
Broken Themes
The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.
Name Description
Decode-child Stylesheet is missing.

I even went and deleted it and added again… but still not working.

Can you see the file path in your hosting file transfer bit?
in the folder it reads: style.css.txt
Would the file type “txt” make a difference?

Umm I think just getting rid of the “.txt” bit when you rename the file will resolve this
haha.. I’m being such a goon!
I don’t know how many times I ran back and forth between WordPress and Konsole to fix this.
*blush*
Apologies Andrew… it is now showing in themes on WordPress.

It’s okay π Okay, so if you activate your Child Theme now it should be set up correctly. Then you can start on your actual problem of getting the header image how you want it.
Once your Child Theme is activated does your site still behave as before? Note that you may need to re-set theme settings in the dashboard, like header images :s
Yip, everything seems to be the same, except (as you said) the header. But also the background colour has gone to plain blue
