    Hello reSmush.it Support Team,

I have a few questions regarding the plugin.

    1. My WordPress Media Library contains only around 500–600 original images, but during optimization the plugin detects 6,000–7,000 images. I understand this is likely because WordPress generates multiple thumbnail sizes for each image.
    • Is there a way to optimize only the original images and exclude thumbnails?
    • If yes, how can I configure the plugin to do that?
    1. After optimizing all images, I noticed that when I visit my website, the optimized images load very slowly, even though the optimization process has completed.
    • Is this expected behavior?
    • Could this be related to image regeneration, caching, lazy loading, or another issue?
    • Are there any recommended settings to improve the loading speed after optimization?

    I would appreciate your guidance.

    Thank you.

    Best regards,

    Hello @ajay2011 ,

Thank you for your message and for using reSmushIT 🙂

I will answer all your questions below:

    1. Unfortunately, this isn’t possible with reSmushIT at the moment but it is possible with our more advanced image optimization plugin, ShortPixel Image Optimizer!
    2. This definitely shouldn’t happen, and it isn’t something that would be caused by reSmush.it. The plugin doesn’t include any lazy loading features or other functionality that could affect how quickly your images are displayed. The plugin itself is fairly simple, it just optimizes your images and replaces your image files with lower filesize ones, meaning they should normally load faster unless you have something on your website that could be adding lazyloading or something like that. The internet connection can also influence how fast your images load, but this isn’t something that can be caused by our plugin and can be tested by temporarily disabling our plugin.

How fast your images load generally depend on a lot of things such as how fast your hosting provider is, how fast the visitor’s internet connection is and how far the server hosting the website is from the visitor. There isn’t much that could be done to improve this via reSmushIT but ShortPixel Image Optimizer has a built-in CDN functionality which can improve this by loading the images from CDN locations closest to your visitors!

We are here if you need any assistance further!

    All the best,
