Hi @jodword,
Thanks for reaching out!
The cropping isn’t actually tied to the column layout, it’s controlled by a separate Crop Images? setting in the gallery config. So whether you use Automatic or set a fixed number of columns, the answer is the same and depends on that one setting:
- Automatic columns: full size or cropped depends on Crop Images?, not the column mode.
- Fixed columns: same thing, the column count changes the layout but not whether the image itself is cropped.
By default, Crop Images? is off, so your thumbnails are scaled down to fit within a set size (640 by 480 out of the box) with their original proportions kept, not hard cropped. If you turn Crop Images? on, they’ll be cropped to uniform dimensions instead.
For the lightbox, yes, it’s enabled by default, and clicking a thumbnail opens the full size image. So even if you do turn cropping on for a tidier grid, visitors can still click through to see the full image.
I hope this helps, but let me know if you have further questions.
Thanks!
Thanks for the information Michelle,
Just trying to find out if this plugin will work similarly to the Gallery block in WordPress. Placed a question in the theme forum about some of the above issues asked about and have been waiting for an answer for almost a month. Thank you for your timely response and have a great day!
