I am looking to add some extra fields to the author profile page that shows your posts. I want to add a few new fields that will show but can only be edited by an admin.

Can this be done for free?

ACF Support Team here. Sure, you can use the free version of ACF to add extra fields to the author page. You can get the plugin from the WP Plugins repository: https://wordpress.org/plugins/advanced-custom-fields/

Yes, I did ask if I can add a field to the author page. But I only want the admin to be able to edit them. They will still show normal to everyone else.
