I have an issue with organization in product categories. On the backend of the site, we have products that fit into many different categories. Because of our large volume of product, we have a few thousand categories that must be scrolled through to add a new product to all the appropriate sections. I know there are plugins to make the front end category search more organized, but is there anything for the back end? I would love to have an accordion style organization of categories in the back end. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • You might want to look at this. I can’t vouch for it but it might do what you need.

Thanks for the response. I checked out the demo and it had some good functionality but it didn’t allow me to put a single product in multiple categories. If you can think of anything else, I’m all ears. We have so many categories on the back end we are trying to manage that it’s gotten incredibly cumbersome.

You’d put a single product into multiple categories on the product end, not category end. This, I believe, covers your request to organize categories, which was your initial request.

    Hi @ncleveland540,

I see what you mean. WooCommerce displays all categories on the product page in one big nested list, which can indeed be problematic when there’s thousands of them. I found a forum thread from a user trying to solve the same problem but unfortunately without any satisfying solution:

    https://stackoverflow.com/questions/41450381/how-do-i-manage-many-categories-in-wordpress-with-woocommerce

As I’m unable to find any plugins that replace the category list with something different, you may consider hiring a developer to get this done for you. Here you will find our recommended customization partners:

    https://woocommerce.com/customizations/

You may want to ask about it in our advanced WooCommerce Community in Slack:

Many people there have years of experience in customizing WooCommerce, so someone might have solved a similar problem already.

    Cheers!

    Hi there,

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.

    Kind regards,
