Hello @jpnl,
Thank you for reaching out to us, and I appreciate you taking the time to test our Pushover integration so thoroughly.
Regarding your experience with the test email: the “Send Test Email” feature within FluentSMTP is a diagnostic tool for manual troubleshooting. Because this process is intended for immediate manual feedback, it is not currently configured to trigger automated Pushover failure alerts. Our Pushover integration is designed to monitor and alert you based on actual email sending failures and issues detected during background connection health checks.
Essentially, what you are seeing is the expected behavior; because the test email is an “on-screen” diagnostic process, it bypasses the automated alert system meant for production sending failures.
We truly appreciate you bringing this to our attention. I have shared your feedback with our development team, and we will look into updating our wording to ensure this is clearer for all our users moving forward.
If you have any further questions or if there is anything else I can assist you with, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
Hello @jpnl,
I hope you are doing well.
No, sending a test email from the FluentSMTP settings screen is not expected to trigger a Pushover failure alert.
The Send Test Email option is handled as a manual diagnostic test. If it fails, FluentSMTP shows the SMTP error directly on the screen so the connection issue can be confirmed immediately.
Pushover failure alerts are intended for regular site email sending failures and connection health check failures.
Thank you
Ok, that explains it. Thank you for your reply.
Would be good to also trigger Pushover in that scenario for testing purposes. Because now you have to invalidate a connection and then fill out a contact form to test if it works. Something to consider?
Thanks
