Hey @3cstudio 👋
I just checked the HTML code of your site and the plugin is adding 3 images. The first one is the Logo, the second one is the person and the third one is a truck. Can you tell me what social media platforms you tried?
hi @pfefferle — thanks for your response.
I’ve only tried Facebook — that’s the main social media outlet they wish to be seen on. I tried in both mobile and desktop versions of Facebook. If the Logo is “listed” as the first image, why is it being skipped over for the person’s photo?
Thanks again.
I have no idea how Facebook decides which image might be the best tbh. but you can limit the number of images, so that only the logo will be added. Simply add define( 'OPENGRAPH_MAX_IMAGES', 1 ); to your wp-config file or use the filter opengraph_max_images.
I added that snippet to wp-config:
/** Set the og image for Facebook in Open Graph. */
define( 'OPENGRAPH_MAX_IMAGES', 1 );
…and the image remained solidly in place, even after all the caches were cleared. Copy/paste that URL into a Facebook feed and see the Preview.
Thoughts?
I checked the HTML of your site and the logo is now definitely the only OpenGraph image. Maybe a cache on Facebook side!?
(I hope they are not ignoring their own format (OpenGraph) and scrape the site instead!?)
Huh.
Did you test by copy/pasting into a Facebook ‘new post’ to see the preview too, and get the person’s image instead as well? Or had you already tested in the past and therefore it was also cached in FB for you as well?
If the issue lies with FB, do you have any insight into how to get FB to NOT show cached content?
I ended up having to add the Plugin: Rank Math SEO and setting its Open Graph Thumbnail to a recommended 1200×700 px logo image. That seems to be the effort that makes it work now… can’t keep fiddling with Open Graph any longer, as the client needs to promote now.
