• When I create a post, the Publicize Edit Details box is checked for Facebook. But after publishing, the box is unchecked and the post is not shared to FB. If I make the post private, the box is checked again (and not uncheckable), but unchecks again if the post is published again publicly.

I’ve had this problem on and off before but publishing has worked recently. But when I added Twitter to Publicize yesterday, the problem came back. Even after removing Twitter, the problem remains.

I’ve tried turning off AIOSEO, no difference.
I have Word Press Super Cache installed, have tried both flushing and turning it off. No difference.

In the Facebook Open Graph Object Debugger the message for all the test posts I checked is:
“The ‘og:image’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.”

But that’s not always been a problem. Like I said, the problem is intermittent but been gone for a while. In AIOSEOs Social Meta settings I tried setting to First Available Image, but that didn’t help. Anyway, I don’t want a Featured Image, I want the blog’s Header Image to be displayed on Facebook (and Twitter).

    The site is http://www.owenlaws.com.

The last post I tried, with only Facebook (after removing publishing to Twitter) is still online:

A very frustrating problem, hope you can help!

I’m sorry to hear you’ve run into issues.

Could you try to reset your Publicize connection, as explained here?
    http://jetpack.me/support/publicize/facebook/#reconnecting-facebook

If that doesn’t help, could you try the following:

    1) Go the Jetpack menu in your dashboard
    2) Click on “My Jetpack” at the top of the page.
    3) Click on “Disconnect Site from WordPress.com” if your site is currently connected to WordPress.com.
    4) Confirm the disconnection.
    5) Click on the Connect button to connect your site to WordPress.com again.

Let me know how that goes.

In the Facebook Open Graph Object Debugger the message for all the test posts I checked is:
“The ‘og:image’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.”

Since your test posts don’t include any image, no image tag will be created by default. You could, however, force AIOSEO to define a default image when no image was inserted into the post. You can do so by going to All In One SEO > Social Meta in your dashboard.

Thanks for the quick reply. I tried everything you suggested but all to no avail. It’s very frustrating since publishing to Facebook worked the day before yesterday until I added Twitter.

I even tried disconnecting sharing to Facebook and Twitter, removing the apps from both and then disconnecting the site from WordPress.com in Jetpack, and the reconnecting there, and then to Facebook (but not Twitter).
    No luck.
Deactivated All in one SEO and tried to publish, still no luck.

After reactivating AIOSEO the Default OG:Image in Social Meta was automatically set to http://www.owenlaws.se/wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-seo-pack/images/default-user-image.png

I had previously – months ago I think – removed that address and left the field blank, but as I said, it’s been working for the last few months.
Still didn’t work with the default Default address.

I haven’t tried creating my own default image, since it worked before without one and that is a real pain in the ass since I frequently change images…..

    Have any other ideas?

Interesting. The problem could be caused by some issues with your site’s connection with WordPress.com.

Can you please use Jetpack’s Debugger module to send us some more information about your site?

    1) Go to the Jetpack page in your dashboard.
    2) Click on the Debug link appearing at the bottom of the page.
    3) Click the link that says “click here to contact Jetpack support.”
    4) Fill in the description box and your name and email address.
    5) Click the “Contact Support” button.

    Thanks!

    Done!
I referred to this thread instead of writing everything all over again including your advice. Hope that was all right.
    Thanks!

Just thought of something that maybe should be mentioned, before installing an official WordPress theme I used Atahualpa. Could something be, like, left behind from that theme?

Your theme shouldn’t interfere with Publicize, but we should know more thanks to the Debug test results.
