In the Express Checkout settings panel for the plugin there is an option called “Checkout Button Type” where you can set it to use the PayPal button, text, or a custom image. Do you have this set to text, by chance?

nope – it is set to “custome image”…

Looks like you’ve found a bug I need to fix. I just realized it’s doing the same thing on my test server. Doh!
I’ll get this added to my 1.1.6 update. Until that’s done you could remove the button from the product pages or use the PayPal image.

You’ll notice there’s quite a few bug fixes and improvements that will be included with it. We’ll get it done ASAP.
