Product Mapping Gone?

    Hi Joris- Is it no longer possible to map a product in the cateogory mapping section? I only see an ability now to save changes and the list is restricted to my store categories. The product mapping was the whole reason I selected this plugin to use. Our store categories are not granular enough and it helps our Google Shopping Campaign performance to be able to have the best Google Category taxonomy fit for each product. Help!!

    Goodmorning Karen,

    You are right, a few releases ago we have removed the category mapping based on product name as it was causing some bugs in the ‘normal’ category mapping and hardly anybody was using this feature anyhow. I am sorry to hear to you are actually one of the happy users who does use it. We are planning to re-introduce the mapping based on products soon but that doesn’t help you know.

    There is an easy solution though. Just re-install one of the older versions of our plugin that still has the product-mapping in it. You can download older versions from this page: https://wordpress.org/plugins/woo-product-feed-pro/advanced/. Version 1.7.5 is the one you should download and reinstall. This should allow you to do product-category mappings again.

    Let me know if it worked out or not. If you require help re-installing the older version of our plugin than let me know, I am willing to help you out.

    Hi Joris-

    Thanks for the reply and I’m relieved to hear it will be back. I have two choices right now – I can create a manual feed (using the adtribes plug in as the source to copy from) temporarily while waiting for the plug in to update with product mapping in it or I can install a back rev. My concern with using the old rev of the plugin is how the update to a future plugin rev would work. Can you take an educated guess at two things to help me decide:
    1) would the product mappings I create in an older plugin stay in place when I update to the future plugin that has product mapping back in or would the work be lost?
    2) how long before you think product mapping will come back in to the plugin?

    Hi Karen,

    I though I answered the above two questions by mail already? Nonetheless, here they are 🙂

    1. Yes they would. We make a real effort to make sure the different versions of our plugin are compatible so our users do not lose their previous configurations;
    2. Give or take a month or so.

    Thanks, I didn’t see a response but one of my email addresses had a server hiccup that same week.

    Right now I am using a manual feed that is copied from the plugin generated feed and overwritten in some spots for better google category fit. We have a second site so I think I will try revision 1.7.5 on it. I will check back in periodically to see what the schedule looks like.
