• I’ve been using WooCommerce for years off and on. I still notice this annoying thing when editing a product, under the ‘Variations” tab, the list of variations are just random and in no specific order.

Why, for over like 5 years now, there is STILL NO SORT FEATURE??? Or maybe, you know, have some common sense at least and SORT BY ID BY DEFAULT! I just don’t get it. Like the devs don’t use this platform at all and have no common sense (or just don’t listen to anyone that uses this platform).

We have to just scroll page by page until we find the variant we’re looking for, that are in a random order? Seriously? Some of us might have 10+ pages. What a time waste. Along with how many variants can show per page is also STILL not a feature….SMH. This page has been identical for over 5 years now with zero improvement. It’s like it takes 10 years for the slightest improvements yet there are supposedly thousands of devs…doing nothing it seems.

    Hi @ddapparel

I can understand how frustrating it can be to manage products with a large number of variations, especially when you’re trying to quickly locate a specific variation.

To clarify, when you use the “Generate Variations” option, WooCommerce generates the variations in alphabetical order based on the attribute values. However, if variations are added manually, WooCommerce preserves the order in which they were created.

You can also manually adjust the variation order by dragging and dropping the variations within the Variations tab. That said, I understand this can become impractical when dealing with many pages of variations.

At this time, WooCommerce does not include a built-in option to sort variations by ID, SKU, or other criteria within the product editor. If you’d like to see improvements in this area, I recommend adding your feedback and voting on the existing feature request below:

Properly sort product variations in backend dropdowns

Feature requests with more votes and feedback help the product team better understand demand and prioritize future improvements.
