    Hellos

I have some questions about Product Categories List block.

    • Legacy widget had a MUST feature: current category had a class “current-cat” which is quite useful to set a different font size, font color, etc — this feature is missing in the block widget.
    • Legacy widget had an option to hide all subcategories except those of the current category. This feature made list more usable instead of having long lists of product categories — this feature is missing in the block widget. Instead, there is a option that hides all subcategories except those of the current category, but (this is the problem) it hides also all parent categories.

For the record, I love Gutenberg, anything that sounds like Divi, Elementor or Bakery terrifies me, but I have to say that some cases in Gutenberg things are not being done right.
I feel like we’re taking steps backwards in some areas.
If shortcodes or classic widgets did things well, why some features are being lost and blocks only work halfway?

So, I just beg that things that work do not remove them. It’s great to switch to Gutenberg, but do not lose features on the path.

    Thanks

    Hi there,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your detailed feedback — we really appreciate it.

To ensure our development team sees and considers this for future updates, I’d encourage you to:

🔹 Submit a feature request here:
    https://woocommerce.com/feature-requests/woocommerce/

Or if you’re comfortable using GitHub, you can also:

🔹 Open an issue directly on GitHub:
    https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce-blocks/issues

That way, our developers can review your suggestion and track it properly as part of our ongoing improvements to WooCommerce Blocks.

In the meantime, if you want to display the current-cat class with the current category, you can use the Categories List block instead of the Product Categories List block.

After adding the block, make sure to select “Product Categories” as the taxonomy from the right sidebar settings — as shown in this screenshot:

    I hope this helps.

    Hi @shahzeenfarooq
    Thanks for the tip.
Product Categories seems to be a good choice to solve the problem.
