Problems with update 4.9.7

After the last update 4.9.7, several major issues appeared:
– the articles do not appear on the index page
– sub-pages in the main menu can no longer be accessed, link missing
– all labels appear at the top of the articles pages
– footer has changed

@frankmartialarts …I understand your frustration, but don’t give up. The changes he has done to the theme are actually good, because the other theme had that additional framework plugin that was necessary for the theme to work, and you no longer need it now, so there are going to be changes necessary with this update. Romik is VERY good, is ALWAYS willing to help, and NEVER gets his feathers ruffled, so I personally recommend you stick with him. He will help you out eventually, if you are just a little patient. He is getting to everyone very quickly in my opinion. You can also email him. I don’t want to post it here but if you contact me, I’ll see if I can also help you out in the meantime. It’s really not as bad as it seems.
As for screenshots, I use the same program he does…it allows you to screenshot ANYTHING, AND mark it up, and store it online and share it with a link…so I highly recommend it. It’s called lightshot. @romik84 fair enough, but honestly the damage is greater than repair, needs to crush the car and build it again, that’s what am gonna do. Started on my subdomain for not putting the site on coming soon mode.
I like the design, and if I don’t find any better one, I’ll be back to your theme!By the way, on subdomain evolve works fine with the new look, but just because I just downloaded it, not updated, so nothing goes wrong of course.
Anyway, thanks for your patience, I gave up repairing, and am gonna start from scratch! š
@romik84 – can you please tell me the exact changes I need to make to my functions.php file for the child theme to work.
Again, here is the code I have:

What will need to be modified to make sure that the child theme will continue to work?
Right after my last message, means almost 7 hours I started from scratch. Luckily I made backup from some of my design, such as custom css and pages were already there, so it did speed up the work!
Long story short, I cleared the cache, removed both parent and child, then I used better child themify plugin, installed the theme again (new one of course) and made a child theme.
Here is why I wrote this message which might be a bit help for someone hopefully, I deactivated all 61 plugins I had, then I activated one at a time, right after that I refreshed customize page on every single reactivating. Here is the list of the plugins which made conflict with the theme, and where they mess up:- 1. Icon widget
- 2. Hide / show title
which #1 made Element Display & Order area dysfunctional (I couldn’t make any content or slider appear), and #2 made the main menu messy, like every current page had 2 times the same name beside each other (like HOME>HOME if I was at the home page).
But of course the main dysfunction (after theme update) had other reasons which I couldn’t find out with usual methods, so I installed evolve fresh, and it’s working fine now, needs just a few more adjustments. š

As I mentioned before, this is my first time asking about design, not just here in this forum, but anywhere else, coz I always found the way somehow by research or my teachers, but this time was a dead end for repairing and no help from here, and the mess was beyond explanation, so I decided to do from scratch, never even thought about giving up Donna, that’s the way of martial arts which I’ve learnt for over 30 years of practice (started when I was a kid, am not that old) š , so I just changed my method, can’t wait for others to do my job, especially when I stuck! š
