Everytime I click on Appearance > Themes> Add New

I always get this error message: “An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.”

I’ve literally just installed Word Press to my website about 20 minutes ago, so I highly doubt it’s been hacked already. I’m on a work connection, but I’ve installed Word Press and added themes plenty of times in the past to other sites with no issue. This is the first time I’ve had this problem.

My host is Blue Host, if that means anything.

Please help me. Thanks everyone. 🙂

    UPDATE:

I removed Jetpack, Mojo Marketplace, and Hello Dolly, and now I’m able to access that page and that error message no longer shows up. However, when I try to upload a theme (Optimize Press), it seems to time out and I get this page:

“Are you sure you want to do this?

    Please try again.”

If I click please try again, nothing happens, it just takes me back to the same screen.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

I just went through and tried all of the above. Nothing worked for me. 🙁

Try checking your site’s error logs for a more specific error message. Your hosts should be able to help you accessing your site’s error logs. This may be an issue with your server’s configuration.

    SOLVED:

I took esmi’s advice and contacted my host. Here’s the solution that I got from them:

I had to upload the theme through the Bluehost File Manager.

I’m a complete noob, so sorry if this is common sense or simple to other people – hopefully this can help out other noobs like myself who encounter this problem for the first time.

    Thanks for your help esmi!
