    HI
When I go on the diagnostics page I see that in the connectivity section “IP(s) used by this server” is correct. It shows my correct origin and cloudflare ip addresses

But on the ip detection section REMOTE_ADDR, CF-Connecting-IP and X-Real-IP all show the same incorrect ip address which is a non allocated bogon address begining with 244.

    X-Forwarded-For value is (not set)

Can you please let me know how to correct this problem?

    Many thanks

    John

    Hi @john53

The IP Detection section is for the detection of the correct IP addresses of all site visitors, including yourself.

For example, if Wordfence detects hackers and everyone else, including yourself, as coming from the same proxy IP address then when a hacker triggers a time-based blocking rule then everyone will be blocked until the block expires or the proxy IP address changes.

We have a guide for setting up correct IP detection below:

    https://www.wordfence.com/help/dashboard/options/#get-ips

If you need further assistance then I will need your Wordfence diagnostics report. Please go to the top of the “Diagnostics” tab on the Wordfence “Tools” page. There will be a “SEND REPORT BY EMAIL” button to send the diagnostics report. Enter wftest [at] wordfence [dot] com as the email and john53 as the forum username please.

Once you have emailed me the diagnostics report can you reply here to let me know that it has been sent. This is important in the unlikely event that your installation of WordPress is having an issue with sending mail.

    Hi
Its OK now thank you I found the problem.

On the cloudflare psuedo ipv4 setting was set to overwrite headers instead of off.

It was generating ip numbers to use for ipv6 ap addresses.

All the best for christmas and new year

    Best regards

    John
