Problems with content area
-
Hi, I am very new to wordpress. I installed it for the first time 2 days ago. I have been working on my website/blog for a very long time today and I am pretty much done for now except on my about me page and my home page needs some work. I have looked up my problem many times but I do not understand the HTML stuff yet and it is all too confusing for me.
So my problem may or may not be simple. If you go to my website you’ll understand what I mean.
Both the about me and home pages don’t use the full amount of space available in the content area (thats what it’s called right?) there is a bunch of extra room on the left and right and even above as you will see on the home page. Can someone explain to me how to fix this? I want to be able to use up the space there. on the about me page in the beginning you see the paragraph and only 4 words or so fit on a line before it goes to another line, but there is enough room for probably 5 more words. also there is a top part that is white, about 2 inches or so (on my screen anyway) on both home and about me. I would guess this problem will be on any other pages I make in the future as well. and it’s really annoying.
Please explain how to fix this and help me understand (if its a code issue) where to put or take out stuff. Thank you so much!

To be honest, it appears that the white space you’re seeing, which is the content area’s padding, was an intentional decision by the theme author. I’d caution against reducing it too much, as it may impact the readability of the content.
That being said, it’s fairly easy to change with CSS. Start by instalingl this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/reaktiv-css-builder/
Add the following code to the custom CSS builder:
.postarea.full .article { padding: 48px 9%; }That will reduce the whitespace by half. You can adjust those numbers to suit your taste. The first number is the amount of top/bottom padding , the second number is the amount of left/right padding.
Sorry for taking so long to respond. I just put that in, tweaked it a bit. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. It fixed my problem.
