Nested shortcodes are usually the cause for many issues. Our tab plugin was designed to only contain bits of text, like product descriptions, instructions or even images.
Some time after its release we made a new version so it could contain and render other shortcodes inside, even though it may not work from time to time (it depends on the plugin really).
I tried to download SZ Google and create a profile badge shortcode and it worked (see screenshot below):

I can’t reproduce the problem you have. Have you tried looking for another culprit? Maybe it’s another plugin that causes the tabs to crash.
