  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems?

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Thanks for the quick reply, this was happening before any plugins were activated. Also I just changed it back to the default theme and it is still not working.

The widges are not moving the cursor just highlights everything instead of moving the widget.

Try re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WP 2.8.5

still not working, would this have anything to do with copying all my files from one server to another? I just updated the wp-config file, am I missing something?

Was it working OK on the other server? Did you just re-use the WP files to run a fresh install or did you port the db over too?

It was working on the old site but I hadn’t upgraded. It was also ‘windows’ not ‘linux’. I changed from ‘windows’ to ‘linux’ because I read that it could cause problems when uploading files. So what i did was just copy everything from the server, via ftp and then re-copy everything back to the new server via ftp with the changed wp-config file with the new ‘mysql’ info.

But you ran wp-admin/install.php on the new server, yes? Did you import any content?

ran the install and imported an .xml file for all the previous work i had done.

Try a manual re-upload of wp-admin and wp-includes from a fresh copy of WP.

done that, would it have any thing to do with the linux issue?

Not that I’m aware of. Most of my WP sites run on Linux servers and I’ve not had any problems.
