Problem with Checkout Form in WP E-commerce

Anyone with good wp e-commerce expereince–I would greatluy appreciate your input/advice:
On the checkout page, I had attempted to remove the
“Calculate Shipping Costs –Please choose a country below to calculate your shipping costs”
from wpsc-shopping_cart_page.php because my client did n;t like it (we are not basing shipping on location)
but brought it back in because, without it, the customer could not select a state down below in the shipping address section –it was defaulting to the home state–no box to enter.
I very well may have removed the wrong lines of code.
So I reverted to the original wpsc-shopping_cart_page.php and now I am getting “please enter a Valid State”, below the valid state showing!
Also please note that I cannot get the shipping same as billing to function in this checkout. Not sure of the two are connected. The form is also very funny/buggy with autofill, and the last address entered stays in there when you revisit the cart.
