Problem uploading images from a different computer after wordpress set it up

I cannot upload images – get the message The uploaded file could not be moved to /var/www/sites/customers/intlschool/_wp/wp-content/uploads/2008/02.

you already know the problem based on the rest of your post.

Server issue, not a wordpress issue — furthermote thats not even how WP handles media, had you been able to up0load it through the admin area.

Also – when I tried changing file attributes ie CMOD to 777 on the wp-content/uploads folder using filezilla, it said ‘you do not have permission to change these settings.’ Current CMOD is 775 on the wp-content/uploads folder.

if you cannot chmod certain dirs, than you need to talk to someone there, not here.

How can we possibly tell you who to contact? Its your gig, your school. I assume they have an IT depeartment, or a computer support department. Someone has root on that box.

What you tell them is exactly what you posted here. You KNOW the problem — WordPress needs to be able to write to certain dirs. It cant. And you cannot change the permissions.
