• I have a problem, maybe someone can help.
I wrote a blog post yesterday and tried to upload an image. Nothing! No response at all.
I also tried to edit the permalink for the page (the URL). Unable to do that either.
I searched and found a couple of things that ‘should’ fix the situation.
One was changing file permissions via FileZilla. That didn’t change anything.
Another was … sorry, can’t even remember the other one.
    Anyway, it didn’t work.
Decided to roll back to the previous version of WordPress since it seemed like that might well be the cause, so I reinstalled that.
    Again, nothing changed.
I’m at a loss. Can’t move forward, can’t publish the post or post any others till I get this fixed.
Can someone please advise what to do. Please?

I’m using Windows 10 and Google Chrome, if that’s relevant.

  • Try with other browsers like Mozilla. You should tell us about the theme and you should try with a different theme that you are using right now.

    Thanks for the reply.
I’ve just tried with Firefox, no different at all.
The theme I’m using is a child theme of the Perkins theme.
I’ve tried changing themes but every time I reach the live preview page there’s no actual preview, just a blank area.

I have the same problem. I’m using wprobot to add posts to my websites. I tried changing the permissions to 777 and then 755 but it hasn’t fixed the problem. This problem started on January first. Also, my wordpress can’t update the plugins. As I see, the problem is on the months. When the new month comes, wordpress should create new directory named “02”. I will try to fix this issue because it is really annoying. If you can find a fix please let me know.

I don’t know much about this, but I’m looking at the uploads folder in FileZilla and there is only a folder called 2014, and it contains just one folder, named 01.

If there should be years and months I assume there should be a folder called 2015, one called 2016, and one called 2017 (none of these exists).

Fed up with problems like this cropping up from time to time. WordPress is an amazing way to publish a site or a blog but when problems arise it’s a nightmare. I have so much to do and I can’t do anything till I get this mess sorted out.

Actually, I only started this blog (truly-amazing.com) in 2015, so maybe there should only be folders called 2015, 2016, and 2017 … ?

I’ve just skipped through a few pages of my blog and all the images seem to be there just fine (thankfully). So they’re stored somewhere, I guess … though not in the uploads folder, as far as I can make out.

If anybody can reach out and help I’d be most grateful.

Okay, I’ve just checked in to CPanel in HostGator and I can see a different picture.

Under ‘Uploads’ in wp-content for truly-amazing.com I can see folders called 2015, 2016, and 2017. And they do indeed contain the image files. Don’t know why I’m not seeing this in FileZilla.

I was looking at the Uploads folder in wp-content (under public_html).

Regardless, whether I change the permissions it doesn’t make any difference. And thankfully I can still see the images on previously published pages, so that’s something.

But the problem persists: I can’t upload a single image … which makes it virtually impossible to publish a post (maybe publishing is screwed as well, haven’t tried that yet). If the images can’t be uploaded and the post URL can’t be edited, who knows what else is in a mess??

Can someone please advise me how to fix this so I can get back to what’s important, publishing stuff on WordPress (instead of struggling to get WordPress working).

Thank you, I do appreciate people trying to help.
