Problem migrating site from a folder to root directory

Hello,

I have been unable to successfully move a website built in a folder (see http://www.sarahpowers.com/new/) to its root directory.

After moving the files, re-saving the permalinks, and recreating htaccess, some of the links resolved properly, while others resulted in a 404 Error page (although the URL no longer indicated the “new” directory and all data had been moved to root).

When I tried to Search and Replace the paths in the database, it ended up corrupting the entire WP system/database (e.g. the widgets became unavailable in the WP admin interface and all pages, regardless of URL, displayed an incomplete Home page).

I repeated the process three times, starting off with a properly working site in the “new”, and ended up with the same result each time.

Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.
