• Originally I created a new site “Site A” (sitea.domain.com) then mapped it using the domain mapping to “sitea.com” set primary. When I accessed the site and logged in it kept the primary URL for login purposes.

I noticed that if I look at Network > Sites > edit siteA and go to Edit > Settings (tab). The URL shows the http://sitea.domain.com for both SiteURL and Home. The other sites show the correct URL here and they work.

Do I need to change these fields manually now? I saw the original posting that I should be able to just setup a domain mapping and set primary and thats it but I need the login page to use the primary mapped domain name because we haven’t been setting up true subdomains for each of these sites.

Sorry for the long post I hope it makes sense. Your help is much appreciated.

No. Domain mapping is designed to work with new & existing sites so it automatically redirects the unmapped domain URLs to the mapped ones.

So, when we setup a new site we are getting everything fine on the public side. But when we go to wp-admin for that site url it is redirecting to sitea.domain.com/wp-admin and not sitea.com/wp-admin (as expected).

I thought because we checked primary this allowed the login pages to use the mapped domain, so users are not confused.

The primary domain only applies to the front end of the site.

There is a checkbox for running the dashboard in the unmapped domain. Uncheck that.
