Hi Kevin,
Right now, the only way to manually add donations is through the Offline payment gateway. So to add this donation, go to Charitable > Settings > Payment Gateways and temporarily enable the Offline donation gateway.
After doing that, go to your website and create a donation for the amount, choosing the offline payment option.
Once you have made the donation, you can turn off the Offline gateway if you don’t want to use it, and you can go to Charitable > Donations to mark the donation as Paid (by default, offline donations are considered “Pending” until they are confirmed as paid).
This is definitely something we want to improve in the future, probably by adding an extension to be able to add donations manually from the dashboard.
Cheers,
Eric
Hi Eric,
Thanks for the speedy reply. This workaround should work just fine for now.
Thanks for the great plugin!

No worries Kevin!
When you get a chance, we’d love it if you can leave us a short review at https://wordpress.org/support/view/plugin-reviews/charitable

Hey Eric,
This work-around really isn’t working to my liking.
How does the plugin keep track of donors? Is it on IP address? I can do this work around for the donated amount, but I also need a way to increase donors… I have previous donors that have donated to my project before I launched this site. Right now everytime I make a new offline donation it still keeps the donors as 1. http://planets.life.iqueue.it/campaigns/instrumentation-and-optics/
I’m assuming because the donor count is create from IP address and not email address, right?
I’m going to need a work around to increase the donor amount too.
Thanks,
-Kevin
The donor count is based on the email address entered in the form, unless you are logged in when you make the donation. If you are logged in, it’s based on your WordPress user account.
So to create a completely new donation as if from a new donor, log out (or if you’re on Chrome, open a new window in Incognito mode) and make a donation with a different email address. The result should be that the donation also increments the donor count.
But yeah, I definitely agree that this workaround is far from ideal!
Cheers,
Eric
Cool. Makes sense. Must be becasue I’m logged in. Doing it in an incognito window should work. I’ll let you know!
Thanks,
-Kevin
Hey Eric,
Thanks for this work around but is there somewhere I can manually change it? I’ve had well over 1,000 donations offline and it’s going to take a reeeeallly long time to manually do this though the workaround you suggested.
Thanks,
Kevin
