We have a website using OceanWP, Elementor Pro and WooCommerce that connects to InfusionSoft. A marketing team is proposing that we change the theme, possibly to a Thrive Theme. Has anyone done this kind of thing? I would assume that this would mean having BOTH Elementor Pro and Thrive Architect installed unless they wish to re-do every page. Since OceanWP is so flexible, it seems possible to have some things that are now configurable possibly be unavailable with a new theme. Is that true? What other problems have you either experienced or would you anticipate? We also have a separate Memberium membership site which would probably be changed as well. I would prefer not to change but I need to have information about why changing the theme would not be advisable.

I hope it’s ok to ask this here. If there would be a more appropriate place to ask, please advise.

  • Hello,

Changing theme is not a good idea when you like it and have lots of features. Can you please tell me what issues you are facing with OceanWP?

I am not having any issues with OceanWP. This proposal is being made by a marketing team who has stated they wish to change the theme and they have proposed a different page layout that appears to be a Thrive template. I am gathering information from informed sources to give the management making this decision information on the effect(s) of making the proposed theme change. My personal preference is to continue with the current configuration. However, these decisions are being made by people who have limited technical experience and the more information I can provide, the better. Also, my personal experience is limited to OceanWP/Elementor and I have only used WordPress extensively for this project. So I am no expert on changing themes mid-project. Their claim is that this change in theme would not affect the site at all.

    Thank you,
    Kathy

Hello @wildgeranium, maybe the marketing team is affiliated to Thrive and earn a commission if you go to a Thrive theme, it is absolutely up to you to see what you want to do, but it is quite weird to tell you that you need to use a different theme, marketing is via external services so can work with any theme but I don’t know exactly what they want to do. I do marketing for OceanWP and I use my theme to do it 🙂
