Posts from a Category Widget

Hi,
I’ve installed and activated this plugin but it doesn’t appear as an available widget on the Widgets screen.

As a newcomer to building and editing theme files, I’m not sure whether this is because I need to add the filter hooks somewhere, and if so how and where do I add them?
