Postcode / Lookup Position in Checkout Form

    Hi SnapAddresss,

    Firstly – good work on the plugin, it’s very easy to setup.

    I’m looking to relocate the Postcode/lookup field in the checkout form. We currently use the classic checkout (non-block) with a partially custom layout, and the field appears at the very top of the checkout form out-of-the-box.

    Ideally, we want it to appear above the street address (or at the bottom when the address fields are hidden).

    Is this possible?

    Hi Clearpathlabs,

    Thanks for the quick response. I’ve attached a screenshot of how it displays at the top of the checkout form and where we would like it to be positioned (essentially above street address).

    We’ve also noticed that the address fields remain hidden even if address data has already been entered/stored previously. You must click enter address manually for it to show the existing address (tested on default, non-custom classic checkout form too).

    Hi Chris,

    Thanks for the detailed report and screenshot.

    Version 1.1.0 is currently going through moderation and should be available in a few hours. The lookup field now sits directly above the street address field rather than at the top of the form. It turned out WooCommerce re-orders checkout fields by priority after the page loads, which was pushing the search box out of position on customised layouts like yours – it now takes part in that ordering, so it stays put.

    Saved addresses are also handled differently now: customers with an address on file now see it immediately, pre-filled, with the search box available above it in case they want to look up a different address – no more being forced to click “enter address manually”.


    And if you ever want the search box somewhere specific in your custom layout, you can add an empty element with data-snapaddress-anchor=”billing” (or “shipping”) where you want it and it will render there instead.
