even though I have posts protected by free and paid levels my free members can download the paid members products
Protecting posts does not protect files. You need to protect files separately.
In any event, where are you storing files? If it’s in the regular media folder, they will never be protected.
Look at s2member’s Download Options section to see how to protect files.
Yes I know that and they are. but it use to work where if someone that was not registered to access that level product and they clicked the download link it would send them to the sign up page. but free members should not be able to access even the post for the paid members products.
Is it working correctly for members who are not free?
If yes, that would suggest there is something wrong with your settings for your free members.
If not, that suggests a theme or plugin conflict.
Well it hard to tell because paid members have access to everything. but if I set it to protect the catagory it works but you cannot see anything but the signup page when you select a category.
Well, it’s difficult to suggest anything other than you check your post access restrictions (and maybe other restrictions too) to make sure that you have not inadvertently set a post to be accessible by a free member.
But even if the free member has access to the post, s/he still shouldn’t be able to access a properly-protected file, so you also need to check those settings.
If still no joy, then a theme or plugin conflict sounds likely.
