Post editing page not working, java errors

    Getting some errors while editing a new blog post, this happens on some of my other blog posts that haven’t been published yet as well.

    I can’t get to the Text Editor to put in HTML. I click on the Text Editor tab and nothing happens.

    The blog entry is 1328 words, but the word count at the bottom of the Visual editor says it is 0 (zero) words.

    I click on the Help at the top of the page and like the Text Editor tab, nothing happens.

    What I have tried:
    I have disabled all plugins and this still happens.
    I have cleared the cache and reloaded the page and there is no change in the behavior.
    I have tried reinstalling the version and the errors persisted.

    One other thing that I’ve tried is using Safari as well as using Chrome. The errors were present in both browsers.

    Hi @jcnordyke,

    Try the following:
    Open wp-config.php in your FTP and add the line
    define('CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS', false);

    Test your backend again.
    If this is not working check your php.ini if magic_quotes is enabled.
    If so disable it.

    Let us know if this solved your issue.

    Thanks for the help.

    I added the CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS line to the wp-config.php file and three things happened.

    1. It didn’t fix the problem.
    2. The error from my original post is persisting.
    3. It introduced a new error.

    Fixed wp-config.php file

    The new error is :

    So, I tried to check the php.ini. My instance of WP didn’t have a php.ini in the wp-admin folder. I added one and added the following line to it.

    magic_quotes = Off

    I logged back in and still no change.

    Hi @jcnordyke,

    Have you tested disabling your theme and test it on a standard theme of WordPress?
    The JavaScript library has been removed and might be needed adding manually in your theme.

    Going to a standard WP theme seems to have fixed it. I’m was using the OptimizePress theme. How do I continue to use that theme and get it to work? You mentioned manually adding the JavaScript library. Is that what I need to do?

    Hi @jdnordyke,

    Well there are two ways you can include a library.
    1. With a plug-in.
    2. Enqueue a script in functions (this is probably the best way to go as you would like to reduce plug-ins as much as possible).

    1. The plug-in ‘Use Google Libraries‘ can be used.

    2. To enqueue an external script you first need to de-register the official script being used by WordPress (it’s probably not there, but just to be sure), and then register the new external script. Just add the following code in functions.php of your theme.

	wp_enqueue_script('jquery', 'https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js', array(), null, true);

    Thanks for helping get me this far. Neither of those worked. I tried #2 first and then #1, but neither of them solved the issue.

    I just found out that I have OptimizePress 2.5.11 and I may need to update that now.

    Hope updating your theme solves the issue.

    EDIT: I checked OptimizePress website, this should solve your issue according to their post.
