You would need to add a custom query to the relevant template file in your theme.
Thanks Esmi, Having just read back my last post, gibberish springs quickly to mind. Thank you for deciphering.
Your reply does make sense, or, it would if I understood HTML. But as a lowly photographer who thinks in pictures, obviously not words, I think this type of custom modification is beyond me. I was hoping there was a facility in 3.2.1 as with the “Sidewinder” add on, where ordering my images is click and drag.
Ho hum.
Is this a gallery of images using the default WordPress gallery?
Wish I knew. I do not appear to have a Gallery, only categories listed on the dashboard?
Its 3.2.1?
Can you post a link to a page demonstrating the problem?
Will do, I have a holding page up at the moment but I will try selecting the url from the page I am working on. http://www.paulcordwell.com/home/?cat=5
I am able on my other site that has sidewinder to load images and then paginate. On the site I have sent to you which does not have Sidewinder, there are no galleries? To paginate the images on my desk top, then load, seems a little archaic.
OK – the page you pointed me to is just a plain category page. In most themes, the category template page just lists all of the posts filed under that category in date order. what you appear to want is some kind of category specific showcase or portfolio page, yes? If so, have you looked at using a gallery plugin like http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/nextgen-gallery/
No I have not Esmi, But I will now, excellent. Thank you.
But I have found a way around creating a selected order. By merely altering the date they were loaded. It appears to work. Is plugin software costly or difficult to load?
Also, begging your indulgence further, historically I have always shot commissions, but because I specialise in aviation I am increasingly being asked for library images and “fine art” examples can you suggest a plugin to facilitate a photographers library. It will not have to be interactive, merely tolist smaller thumbnails as a menu that open into larger images.
My aviation site is http://www.cordwell.aero or paul@cordwell.aero
Regards,
Paul.
Is plugin software costly or difficult to load?
The plugin is free. It can be installed using Plugins -> Add New and searching for “NexGen”. I think it will provide most (if not all) of the functionality that you are looking for.
Will it need HTML writing/language to load?
Ok, all loaded, how will the new functionality manifest itself?
Cool Esmi, what a revalation. I’m not at all happy with the aviation site either, can similar be done with sidewinder?
I’ve not used that theme so I couldn’t say for sure if it will cause any conflicts with NexGen Gallery. The best people to ask are Themeforest. Try their support forum: http://themeforest.net/forums/topic/themeforest/themeforest
