    Is there a Post author link? This block doesn’t appear to have this option in WordPress Twenty Twenty Three? It does for Categories and Date though.

    Hi @editorialteam – the Post Author block (not specific to Twenty Twenty-Three) does not have a link option, but there’s an enhancement issue here, to which I’ve added your request:

    Hi @zoonini sorry to jump in, but I’ve just been down a bit of a rabbit hole on this after seeing the following /r/WordPress reddit thread yesterday: Author block in gutenberg

    One of the comments indicates they already have the setting available to them, whereas I and the thread creator both do not (both using 6.1.1).

    There is a more recent enhancement issue here, which is marked as complete and includes a merged pull request containing the code for the requested setting: https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/41554

    I don’t know if it’s possible for the code to get lost in the shuffle between subsequent releases, but thought I’d better let you know should something like that have occurred in this case.

    Hi @editorialteam and @joelbardsley I can see the option to link the author’s archive on the block settings as shown in this short video.

    I am using the Twenty Three Theme, Gutenberg version 15.1.0 and WP 6.1. I am not sure when exactly this option was enabled but from thew GitHub issue you shared it seems to be on version 14.3.

    Thanks for sharing @thelmachido – that’s what I expected to see when doing a fresh 6.1.1 installation yesterday.

    According to this, it looks like version 14.3 is too late to have been bundled in with 6.1.1 https://developer.wordpress.org/block-editor/contributors/versions-in-wordpress/

    Installing and activating the Gutenberg plugin via the WordPress Dashboard ensured I was using 15.1 and indeed the setting is now available. Tagging @editorialteam in case they’d like to try doing that.

    Is it the plugin by the Gutenberg Team version 15.1.0? Presumably this plugin won’t impact on FSE? Thanks.

    That’s the one (15.1.0 by Gutenberg Team). I’ve only been using a fresh WordPress install, but I’ve since created a custom Authors template in the Site Editor without any issues.

    Thanks for sharing @thelmachido – that’s what I expected to see when doing a fresh 6.1.1 installation yesterday.

    Hi @joelbardsley my site is using the latest version of WP and the Gutenberg plugin. I am not quite sure why the option isn’t available on your site. Can you please try to deactivate all plugins on your site to see if this might be a plugin conflict, additionally temporarily change your theme to TT2 to see if this might be theme related.

    @joelbardsley – thanks for catching that duplicate GitHub issue!

    To confirm and summarize for anyone reading this thread:

    • The option to link the Post Author block to the author archive is not available in WP 6.1.1
    • The option is present when activating the latest version of the Gutenberg plugin (15.1.1)

    If anyone is still not seeing the link option while running WP 6.1.1 and Gutenberg 15.1.1, please let me know, otherwise I’ll consider this thread as resolved. 🙂
