Hello @biotrace
All descriptions are put into a CDATA[] bracket, so it should not be a problem if it contains html code or shortcode.
Best regards,

Hi Michel, thanks for your reply.
I noticed in our test XML feed that the description has shortcode within the CDATA[] bracket (eg. [accordian]).
With CDATA[] does this mean that HTML or shortcode does not apply when google reads the data back? We wish to avoid having and shortcode visible as text within our product descriptions when displayed on Google.
Thanks in advance for clarification on this.
To be honest, I don’t know how Google handles HTML or shortcode. The CDATA (stands for Character Data) only makes it possible to add code like HTML in an xml file without the xml file interpreting it as xml code.
Because a lot of users had HTML code in their Product Description it was necessary for us to put the Product Description in CDATA to prevent the xml file from giving errors.
Maybe you could ask the Google Support Centre (https://www.google.com/retail/solutions/merchant-center/) how they handle HTML or shortcode in the description item?
