Support » Plugin: Shareaholic | share buttons, related posts, social analytics & more » Possible problem with the “the_content” Filter

  • Hi,

I’m using the Shareaholic v7 plugin in combination with the custom post plugin and found that the sharing buttons are not only showing up in posts and pages, but also in my custom posts, which I don’t want.

On the FAQ of the custom post plugin it’s explained that this behaviour is caused by content filters not being set correctly. They link to a detailed explanation here: I’m not experienced enough to judge whether this is really the problem, but I thought I’d mention it here so you might look into it.

For now I’ve placed the necessary Shareaholic code manually, which works, only I can’t switch the sharing buttons off for individual posts or pages this way. So I’d much more prefer to add them automatically, but would have to wait until the above issue is solved. Is this something you’d expect to be addressed in any plugin update soon?

    Many thanks 🙂

  • Hi Dvaer,

Our plugin isn’t currently compatible with custom post types, but I thank you for the information you have provided. I have submitted a ticket to engineering to have this information reviewed so that we can hopefully offer automated control between our plugin and custom post types in the feature.

At this time, depending on how the custom templates utilize hooks, our plugin may or may not appear when these custom content templates load. I understand that using manual placement in these situations can be a burden as it disables the controls provided on individual entries.

If you’d like a workaround for disabling on specific posts when using manual placement until we do offer support for custom post types, I’ll be happy to help. I just need to take a look at your blog to provide a tailored response. Thanks!
