Popup capture, …..Session based, cookies?

So we have the popup live on the site (triggered on homepage only), but is there a way to have this popup not trigger upon every page hit for the same user? like a session based or cookie based experience so it only triggers ONCE for the same customer and not every time they hit the same page?

Example, if a customer lands on our site for the first time (homepage) and it triggers the popup, and as they navigate around the site…..if they eventually go back to the homepage, the popup triggers and opens again. Is there a way to have it so the popup only triggers ONCE per user?

its kinda annoying that it triggers every time the same customer hits the homepage, even if they already filled it out and subscribed.
