Hello,
since a few days when someone enters the page a popup window opens and one is invited to enter a user name and password. One can close this window but if the landing page is loaded again the same window opens up. The same thing occurs when the cart or checkout is accessed. All the other pages are fine.
It seems like the problem is gone on the landing page when the instagram plugin is deactivated, but it is not the plugin since I tested it with another instagram plugin with the same popup window opening and the popup is always opening on the cart and checkout page. I don’t think it is WooCommerce or the theme since the same window pops up when WooCommerce plugin is deactivated and/or theme is changed.
Please help, I don’t know what to do and can’t find a fitting option in the backend.

It doesn’t seem to be in your .htaccess file. You might check with your host.

It will be because you have .htaccess in the wp-admin directory.

You can manually add this to your htaccess file in the wp-admin directory

hello,
that didn’t work neither. But I found a second .htaccess file, one is in the main directory (content is the one posted earlier), the second file is in the wp-admin directory. Content of the second one is:
AuthUserFile /is/htdocs/wp12511736_V3VKJ5HRYF/www/.htpasswd
AuthName Admin
AuthType Basic
Require user wordpressadmin, itscult
Order allow,deny
Allow from env=show_no_dialog
Require valid-user
Satisfy any

this does look like there could be the problem, right? I don’t know whats the fault and I don’t know if I need two .htaccess files?

Try commenting that out and see if it fixes the issue (like the example below)
