• Hi!
I’m using Polylang (1.1.1) for translating my wp site with comic easel plugin. I tried before with WPML and similars and this is the best by far (and free). The plugin is wonderful, works fine (but it’s a bit tricky to config the pages ._.) works well with the posts, pages, strings (wpml crashes), comics and custom taxonomies of easel.
    But…
The featured images thing don’t work, and this is very important for a webcomic site.
When I try to attach the featured image and then save the post of x lang (EN for example), the same image is saved for the post in ES and FR.
I tried everything I found in the forums:
    – switch on and off the translate media
    – put every image with the correct lang Β¬_Β¬ (took me hours)
    – put the code in functions and wp-config to prevent this happening.

    Anyone can help me? πŸ™
    Thanks

Did you try to uncheck the synchronization option “featured image” in Polylang settings?

Oh, I forgot that! The spanish translation of the plugin is a bit confusing in this part :/
Well, now I have the pages with their respective images. Thank you πŸ˜€

And now, I don’t know why, when I click to the next page the language suddenly it switches to ES (the default lang is EN).
When I click to the previous page the page is it stays in EN (when it changes to ES, the pages are and the whole site is in ES). I have deactivated the automatic translation… regenerated the permalinks…

Also… there is someshow to keep the old publication date then you post a new translation?

    Thanks for the help πŸ™‚

About the “next” button issue, I reported it at the Comic Easel forum too. I think it would be a bug of that plugin, because the other buttons and functions works well with Polylang.

But I’m interested in the publication date (sync) of the new translations. I think the new translation must syncronize with the older published post. :/ (It’s possible?)
Also a more easy way to find the posts in other langs, like the selector (dropdown)in the tags/categories.

BTW, awesome plugin. Keep up the good work! πŸ™‚

You can play with the “published date” synchronization in Polylang settings to control that.

You can play with the languages menu in the admin bar on top of your screen. I don’t use the same interface as WordPress for categories because the language filter is persistant accross pages (and also active in some places where there is no category filters such as menus)

Well, so I have to update all my translated posts by hand and copy the post ID -.-

Yep, I have this activated, but when I write the new post, the old post changes the date to the newer one :/ If I deactivate the option, one post is newer that the other, the same problem. I have to change the date.

It would be nice that, when I click to add a new translation, the post copy the same date of the other lang post (wpml has this option) to not mess up the order of the posts and make the user revise the date and hour and change it manually. -.-

Anyway, great plugin. I like the fact (among others) that Polylang can copy all the other custom tags with synchronization, thing that other plugins doesn’t do, btw.

    Thanks for your time πŸ™‚

It is possible that WPML does this. But Polylang is not a WPML clone and both plugins work differently.

In WPML the default language is the ‘master’ and the other languages are ‘slaves’. All posts exist in the default language and when you synchronize your published date you just have to copy from the default language to other languages.

In Polylang there is no ‘master’ language. This gives one advantage: you are not obliged to have all your posts in the default language. The drawback is that I can’t choose the “published date” of the already published posts to make the synchronization without blocking the possibility to change this date after the first publication has been made. So I chose to make the synchronization in the other direction.

Ok. I know Polylang is not a clone of WPML. I know how difficult is to code a plugin, sorry. :/

Anyway, the plugin works well, it’s lighter and better than others I tested. I’m still waiting the response of the creator of Comic Easel to check the “next” button bug.

    Thanks for your help πŸ™‚

Hello, I have similar problem with thumbnails, but unfortunately I`m not good in wordpress πŸ˜‰

I have theme where main page shows news, every post is shown as a image (featured image).

In PL version (deafult language) everything works fine, but in EN version featured images don`t show.

I tryed to uncheck media translations and uncheck featured images sync. but still the same problem πŸ™

this is my page : http://aussie-cayenne.cba.pl

Maybe I did something wrong? If you need some more infos about my WP settings, please tell me.

@nikita89. Your theme Xenon is internally using a plugin Aqua resizer which conflicts with Polylang. I just created a development version (1.1.4.1) which should solve this conflict:

Wow thank you! It really helps! You are amazing πŸ™‚
